Our leadership

Clear direction starts with experienced judgment.

Important work needs someone who can see the bigger picture and stay involved as it takes shape.

Meet your leadership

Shared capability. Complementary strengths.

Either Jesse or Rob can lead your engagement. Their different areas of depth inform one shared offering—not two separate practices.

Jesse Phelps

Jesse Phelps

A clear picture of what good looks like—and the leadership to work toward it.

As Director of Web Engineering at Express Scripts, Jesse led engineering practice modernization, including DevOps and testing in production, while building a culture of continuous improvement across his teams.

With degrees in electrical engineering and computer science, Jesse enjoys technology at every level. He also owns multiple businesses, bringing an owner’s perspective to the relationship between technical decisions and business needs.

His experience includes extensive healthcare work and leadership in transportation. Through the unurgent, he advises CEOs, guides developers, establishes direction, and brings in expertise as needed.

Rob Keefer

Rob Keefer

Product judgment grounded in experience from initial concept through launch.

Rob brings healthcare product experience spanning six mobile apps as well as web and mobile platforms, with involvement from initial concept through launch.

His background in product research and design informs how he leads: helping teams establish direction and connect their work across research, design, development, and delivery.

As a fractional leader, Rob leads the people doing that work rather than serving as the hands-on researcher, designer, or developer. He can lead an internal team, specialists from the unurgent, or a combination of both.

These backgrounds describe Jesse’s and Rob’s individual experience, including work before the unurgent.

The engagement

One accountable lead—not another layer to manage.

Your engagement has a designated leader. Behind that relationship is access to complementary judgment and specialist expertise, with responsibilities and support agreed as part of the engagement.
